Mac Antivirus
While it’s true that thanks to the design of the Mac OS it hasn’t been victim to the vast hordes of Malware and Viruses that affect Windows operating systems;
There seems to be at least one virus for Macs in the wild that is doing the rounds at the moment and is doing damage. It works by poisoning search engine results.
You read about this virus or that virus for Macs on blogs (maybe like this one even) or in the news and you go to your trusty search engine to find some free antivirus app for your Mac. This new app, currently known as MAC Defender, uses common search terms and all sorts of other tricks to try to push itself up the rankings. Then by trying to defend against some virus, you install this virus masquerading as an antivirus product.

First advice: Don’t Panic. Your Mac is most likely secure anyway. Especially if you keep it up to date, don’t download any suspicious files and don’t mess with the security settings unless you know what you’re doing.

Giving Pledge
Bill Gates and Warren Buffet (the 2nd and 3rd richest men in the world respectively) in the world have launched a campaign called the Giving Pledge.
Asking some of the richest people in the world to pledge to give away 50% or more of their wealth before or after they die.
“This is my one of my favourite parts of the campaign:The Giving Pledge will not accept any money; it is simply asking billionaires to make a moral commitment to give away their wealth to charity.”
I am so ashamed to be a human right now.

They did a top 100 inventions of all time survey (admittedly they only surveyed 4000 brits). And the iPhone came in at number 8! Beating off other inventions such as the compass, combustion engine and the flushing toilet. Mobile phones is also on the list at number 21 (funny, I thought the iPhone IS a mobile phone). And the telephone comes in at number 6!
Also on the top 100 list include such marvelous inventions as google, facebook, sky+, cheese graters, Hot water (that’s surely not an invention) and Satellite discs (still not really sure what these are).
The missed things like solar panels, lasers, gunpowder, books, fire, soap, solid state technology, plastics, glass, many advances in medical science (defibrillators, MRI machines, X-Ray etc)…
Face. Palm.
